A royal expert believes Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will likely skip King Charles III’s coronation this May.
Speaking to Express UK, Kinsey Schofield shared her thoughts about the matter, noting that what she believes to be the former working royal’s possible move is an act of punishment to the British Royal Family.
The expert told the outlet that she does not think the public “will see either one at the coronation” of the British Monarch.
She stated, “I think that’s their way of punishing the Royal Family,” before adding, though, that she is "not so sure that royal watchers wanted to see” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the historic event.
In explaining her thoughts during the exchange with the publication, Schofield said Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been working on their strategy since before leaving the royal life.
As claimed, the former working royals have “been strategizing this escape, they’ve been strategizing this brand build since before they officially left the Royal Family.”
The “To Di For Daily” podcast host stated, however, that “it’s blown up in their face, it’s backfired,” before saying, “what we’re seeing right now are consequences of some really poor decisions.”
The expert’s claims about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, specifically regarding their attendance at King Charles III’s coronation, come after the couple received their invitation to the royal event.
A spokesperson for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry confirmed the matter over the weekend, according to People.
In a statement to The Sunday Times, the rep said, “I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation. An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”
The magazine later noted in its report, published Sunday, that Buckingham Palace had no comment.
Meanwhile, other royal experts seemingly have a different assertion about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in terms of their attendance at the King’s coronation.
Late last month, Russell Myers and Zoe Forsey discussed the matter in an episode of “Pod Save The King” podcast, according to Express UK.
At the time, the publication said the hosts shared their beliefs that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will possibly attend the historic event in May, with Myers reportedly saying, “...I definitely think they will come. I can’t imagine for a second that they would pass up the opportunity to be at such an event.”
As for Forsey, she is said to have stated that if the former working royals decide not to go, “they will always have that regret that they weren’t a part of it,” regardless of the tensions.
