It remains unclear whether Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will attend the coronation of King Charles III this May. But, a royal expert is sharing an insight into the matter, even claiming that the former actress feels “upset.”
Speaking to Fox News, Kinsey Schofield stated that the Duchess of Sussex is “overwhelmed” and “upset” as the preparations for the historical event continue. She noted, however, that it is not that the royal “feels excluded with the planning.”
The host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast explained that the former working royal supposedly feels that way because she “feels like the palace is only fighting for Prince Harry to attend and they don’t care whether she shows up or not,” before saying that this “does not sit well with her.”
Schofield continued in the exchange that one of the “greatest insecurities” of Meghan Markle is “rejection.”
The expert claimed that the former working royal “does not want to be booed or humiliated on a global scale,” adding, however, that “she understands that her brand stateside increases in value with her proximity to the royal family.”
The coronation of King Charles III will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6, where he will be crowned alongside the Queen Consort, Camilla.
Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle has addressed the matter. They have yet to comment on the subject, making it unclear whether they will attend the historical event.
Despite the lack of confirmations, though, People learned from a palace insider that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be invited to the coronation.
But, a source reportedly close to the royal-born Prince told the magazine, which published the claims earlier this month, that he and his wife have yet to receive an invitation.
Elsewhere in the exchange with Fox News, published Thursday, Kinsey Schofield revealed her thoughts about the likelihood of Prince Harry attending the coronation without Meghan Markle.
The expert told the publication that she thinks “there is a possibility that Harry could do a quick turnaround for the coronation alone.”
She explained that the Duke of Sussex shared in their documentary on Netflix how “he missed aspects of royal life,” adding that she believes “traditions are one of them.” She noted, as well, that “duty is also important to him and there is a sense that it is his duty to attend as the son of the sovereign” based on his military experience.
Schofield said in the same engagement, however, that she expects the royal-born Prince “will feel a sense of loneliness” if he does attend.
