Olivia Wilde is seemingly looking at the different kinds of love on Valentine’s Day.
The 38-year-old actress took to her Instagram Stories an excerpt from author John Steinback’s letter to his son, Thom, in 1958. It discusses the types of love, mainly the “selfish” and the “outpouring of everything good in you” kinds.
The piece begins with “there are several kinds of love,” before going into one of the types, saying, “One is a selfish, mean, grasping, egotistical thing which uses love for self-importance.” It says that this one is the “ugly and crippling kind.”
The letter continues, “The other is an outpouring of everything good in you - of kindness and consideration and respect - not only the social respect of manners but the greater respect which is recognition of another person as unique and valuable.”
The material later concludes that the first kind of love can make one “sick,” “small,” and “weak,” whereas the second type can release in person “strength,” “courage,” and “goodness,” even “wisdom you didn’t know you had.”
Page Six noted in its report, covering the social media post, that it comes nearly three months after Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles made headlines due to their split.
The breakup reports involving the “Don’t Worry Darling” director and lead actor first emerged in November.
Multiple sources confirmed to People at the time that the two celebrities were “taking a break” from their relationship after two years together, adding that “it’s a very amicable decision” between them, who allegedly remained “very close friends.”
An insider, who is reportedly a friend, meanwhile, told the magazine that Wilde and Styles “have different priorities that are keeping them apart.”
The same source stated that both parties have “had ups and downs throughout the relationship,” after claiming, “The public pressure on them has been difficult.”
The “House, MD” actress and the “As It Was” singer have since maintained their silence about the matter. They have yet to address the reports or release official comments.
Despite the silence, though, a source spoke to Us Weekly about what Olivia Wilde supposedly felt months after the split reports made headlines.
As claimed, the “Lazarus Effect” star was “trying to move on,” with the insider adding that she was “still very much upset about the breakup.”
The same source continued to the outlet, which published the claims in December, that Wilde “thought going on vacation would allow her to decompress,” although “dating isn’t on her list of priorities.”
In the end, it is alleged that the actress had been “leaning on friends” following the split.
