David Crosby allegedly lived his final years with so much regret following his son’s overdose.
According to Globe, Crosby was convinced that he was to blame for his son’s death in 2020. And he never forgave himself for it.
“David never got over the death because he personally felt responsible. He believed his own addictive behavior was almost certainly passed down to his son,” the source said.
Throughout his lifetime, Crosby also battled addiction for many years. But in the end, he rose above his issues. However, the same cannot be said about his son.
“David may have conquered his own demons but he couldn’t stop feeling maybe he’d passed his problematic personality on. It nagged at him until the day he died,” the source said.
Crosby died on Jan. 19 at the age of 81. Following his death, his family released an official statement sharing the tragic news with the entire world.
“It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music,” the statement read (via CNN).
Even though it’s true that Crosby is no longer around, the tabloid’s claims that he died with so much regret aren’t true. The musician never blamed himself for his son’s overdose even if addiction can be passed on from one family member to the next.
After all, Crosby’s son was already an adult when he passed away. This means that he could already make his own decisions. And the fact that Crosby was already in his late 70s when his son died proves that he had nothing to do with it.
It’s therefore very easy to see that the tabloid is just making up stories about Crosby and his late son for their own benefit. But what they should really be doing is allowing the entire family to grieve and deal with the loss of their two loved ones together.
Crosby will be remembered for his music and his legacy will live on not only among his family and friends but also among his fans.
