Freddie Prinze Jr. has reportedly decided to return to acting after years of staying out of the limelight because of his feud with Kiefer Sutherland.
According to Globe, Prinze Jr. still hasn’t forgiven Sutherland for nearly booting him out of Hollywood. But he realized that he needs to make a comeback because acting is something that he enjoys doing.
“Freddie still hates Kiefer, but he realizes he can’t let him live in his head forever. He’s ready to take on as many acting projects as he can – as long as Kiefer isn’t part of them,” the source said.
After starring in Sutherland’s hit TV show 24 in 2010, Prinze Jr. decided to take a step back from the business. He also opened up about his decision back then.
“I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash. I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that. I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped,” he said.
According to the tabloid, Sutherland was surprised to hear Prinze Jr’s complaints at the time but he still wished him well. But the source alleged that deep inside, Sutherland declared war against Prinze Jr. in his mind.
Now that he is back to acting, Sutherland doesn’t also want to work with Prinze Jr. in any upcoming project.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s not true that Prinze Jr. and Sutherland are still holding a grudge against each other. After all, their feud happened a long time ago.
And even if the alleged feud impacted Prinze Jr.’s decision to take a step back from acting, he also did it so that he could focus on his family life, particularly his children.
It doesn’t seem fair for the tabloid to put all the blame on Sutherland when they do not exactly what happened between them and Prinze Jr. back in the early 2000s.
At the end of the day, only the two actors know what really transpired between them. And it is possible for them to have also buried the hatchet a long time ago because their feud never made headlines again until this week.
