Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were released from their contracts with ABC on Jan. 26 following investigations that confirmed their affair.
In Touch Weekly, in its Feb. 13 issue, claimed that Good Morning America and ABC were left with no other choice but to fire the hosts because they have to protect their brand and image.
“ABC execs had to protect the brand – GMA is considered news and entertainment, but it’s a family show. They had a responsibility to make sure there wasn’t any inappropriate behavior among the parties involved, their staff, and the crew. And they decided they had no choice but to cut ties with them both,” the source said.
After the hosts’ relationship was made known to the public, Holmes was also accused of having affairs with three other women from the network. The source claimed that Robach was good friends with one of these women.
“Amy and T.J.’s’ biggest mistake was being naïve about their little office romance, thinking it couldn’t blow up as it has. And their affair opened up a whole can of worms. The revelations about T.J.’s alleged past affairs are something Amy can’t be taking lightly,” the source said.
But despite everything that’s been said about Holmes, Robach is still standing by her man if only to show the world that their relationship is something that should be accepted and respected by the public.
“As far as I know, she was aware that T.J. was unhappy in his marriage, but not the extent of his supposed infidelities. If she did know, that might have been a red flag to steer clear of him. But for now, they’re still together and it’s pretty serious,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s not true that Holmes has been proven guilty of having more affairs at ABC. It is possible that the rumors are just circulating because a lot of people did not approve of his affair with Robach.
As of late, the couple is still together and they have both split from their respective spouses. They will no longer star in Good Morning America but it is only a matter of time before their supporters see them on TV again. After all, there’s no discounting their abilities for hosting despite their mistakes.
