Prince Harry’s relationship with King Charles and Prince William remains strained.
During his interview with Anderson Cooper in 60 Minutes, the Duke of Sussex was asked whether he’s in contact with his father and brother.
Meghan Markle’s husband said that he isn’t in contact with the two male royals. And he also revealed that the last time they talked was a long time ago.
But despite everything that’s been said and done, Prince Harry told Cooper that he’s very much looking forward to the day when he could reconcile with King Charles and Prince William.
And it is Prince Harry and Markle’s goal to have a private and constructive conversation with the father and son.
“Meghan and I have continued to say that we will openly apologize for anything that we did wrong. But every time we ask that question, no one’s telling us the specifics or anything. I really look forward to having that family element back. I look forward to having a relationship with my brother. I look forward to having a relationship with my father and other members of my family,” he said (via Page Six).
Prince Harry also made other shocking revelations during his conversation with Cooper.
For instance, the Duke of Sussex confirmed that he experimented with drugs to help him cope with Princess Diana’s death.
“I would never recommend people to do this recreationally, but doing it with the right people if you’re suffering from a huge amount of loss, grief, or trauma, then these things have a way of working as a medicine. For me they cleared the windscreen, the windshield, the misery of loss,” he said (via TIME).
Speaking of Princess Diana, Prince Harry admitted that he didn’t think that his mother really died when she did. And it took him many years to understand that Princess Diana would never come back.
In fact, there was also a time wherein the Duke of Sussex thought that Princess Diana faked her own death so that she could get her sons from King Charles.
After all, after King Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage ended in divorce, the former retained custody of his two children. Princess Diana was only allowed to see Prince William and Prince Harry regularly but she didn’t live with them in the palace.
