Johnny Depp previously vowed never to work with Disney again after the company dropped him amid his physical abuse case against Amber Heard.
But a source told Globe that Depp could have a sudden change of heart because Disney is offering him a whopping $50 million to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean.
“A lot of people in the Disney company believed Johnny was such damaged good he could never return as Jack Sparrow. But money talks – these Pirates movies have made more than $4.5 billion for the company and the Pirates theme is a major part of its theme parks,” the source said.
The source added that Disney cannot do another pirate of the Caribbean movie without Depp. So, it wouldn’t be wise for them not to work with the actor.
“To the public, he is the franchise,” the source said.
However, the problem of Disney is whether or not they could Depp to go on board with their plans. After all, he previously vowed never to work with the company again after he won his defamation case against Heard last year.
But the tabloid’s source claimed that there’s still a chance for Depp to have a change of heart because there’s no denying the fact that he is after the huge paycheck.
“Playing Jack Sparrow again would refill his coffers – and even more – Johnny truly believes the public wants him back on the big screen,” the source said.
Last month, Depp reprised his role as Captain Jack Sparrow but not in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Instead, he wore his popular costume and reprised his equally famous role for Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Depp appeared in a video that was sent to his 11-year-old fan, who has undergone multiple heart transplant surgeries and has been in palliative care.
“So, Capt. Kori, terribly sorry I missed out on this. Meant to say it, forgot to say it, didn't say it, gonna say it now. Saying it, I'll say it. I hear tell of something they speak about in the ages of now called the YouTube channel, which I don't understand, but why not?” Depp said (via Movie Web).
