Kate Middleton is reportedly a “big hugger” as she hugs and kisses everyone when she greets them.
People learned the claim from a source, who is said to be a friend of the senior working royal. It comes after Meghan Markle revealed in her and Prince Harry’s newly released Netflix documentary, “Harry & Meghan,” that the future King and Queen Consort’s formality behind closed doors surprised her.
But, the unnamed friend of the Princess of Wales seemingly pushed back on the claim and told the magazine that she is a “big hugger.” It is also noted that “she is warm and friendly and greets everyone with a big hug and kiss,” adding that “it comes naturally to her to be like that.”
In “Harry & Meghan,” which dropped on Netflix on December 8, the Duchess of Sussex recalled the first meeting she had with Prince William and Kate Middleton. She even revealed that she was “barefoot” and “in ripped jeans” when they came over for the first time.
Meghan Markle noted that she “was a hugger, always been a hugger.” She said, however, that she “didn’t realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”
The former working royal subsequently stated that she “started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. That there is a forward-facing way of being. And then you close the door and you’re like, ‘Oh, great. Okay, we can relax now.’ But that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me.”
The claim is part of the Volume 1 episodes of the Netflix documentary series. Volume 2 of the material will drop on the streaming platform on December 15.
Following the release of the first part of the documentary series last week, sources spoke to People and gave an insight into the reaction of some members of the British Royal Family.
A source, reportedly close to the royal household, told the magazine that “it will take a long time before there is harmony” between the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex as “there is a lot of anger there.”
A palace insider, meanwhile, claimed to the outlet, which published the claims on Wednesday, that Kate Middleton and Prince William are avoiding the documentary series, adding that they are “having aides watch” the material instead.
But, royal biographer Ingrid Seward noted to the publication that “there is always a way for reconciliation” if both parties want it.
