Sophie, Countess of Wessex, remains active as a working member of the British Royal Family. As she continues with her duties and responsibilities, some royal fans are reportedly expressing their thoughts about her, including their bids for her to become a Duchess.
Express UK reported that it all came after the working royal had an engagement with experts and attendees at the ZSL London Zoo later this week. As added, she also met with locals to learn more about the international conservation charity, the Zoological Society of London.
Royal fans and watchers are said to have taken their thoughts to Instagram after the Royal Family’s official account made an update about the engagement. Citing some comments from the post, the outlet reported that there are individuals who deemed the Countess of Wessex their “new favorite royal.”
One netizen reportedly stated that Sophie, Countess of Wessex, does her duties and responsibilities “well by being [a] normal royal,” adding that her “relatability” is one of the factors that cause her popularity to increase.
Another individual is said to have described the working royal as “giving,” “classy,” and “intelligent,” as well.
The publication later included a comment from a different royal fan, who reportedly asserted that the Queen’s daughter-in-law “deserves” to become a Duchess. As added, the same netizen also highlighted how she and the Earl of Wessex “have been a strong support” to the British Monarchy.
The talks about Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, becoming the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have seemingly become apparent in recent weeks. This comes as King Charles III ascended to the British Throne following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who held the title, along with the late Prince Philip.
A report from the Telegraph, published in September, stated that the title of Duchess of Edinburgh would pass to the Countess of Wessex if her husband earned the Dukedom of Edinburgh. It also noted that receiving the title would elevate her role as she becomes “notably more significant,” being that she is one of the only few working members of the British Royal Family.
The publication pointed out, though, that King Charles III, who has held the title since Prince Philip’s passing, has the final say on the matter.
To date, the royals, alongside Buckingham Palace, have yet to make an official statement regarding the title.
Meanwhile, the latest engagement of Sophie, Countess of Wessex, saw her visit the recently restored Snowdon Aviary, as well.
According to the Royal Family’s official website, the late Earl of Snowdon designed the aviary in the 1960s.
It also noted that Queen Elizabeth II visited there years later, adding that she was patron of the Zoological Society of London from 1953 until her passing in September.
