Meghan Markle allegedly didn’t allow her kids to call their grandfather, King Charles on his 74th birthday.
According to New Idea, Markle’s decision upset King Charles but he couldn’t do anything about it.
“He was spoilt rotten by the Wales children, who drew pictures, made cakes – the whole deal. But any suggestion of speaking to the kids in America was stonewalled,” the source said.
The source claimed that Markle and Prince Harry made the tough decision not to allow their kids to call King Charles because of what the latter did on the same day.
King Charles made requests for Princess Anne and Prince Edward to be included as Counselors of State. Even though he didn’t remove Prince Andrew or Prince Harry from their post, the source claimed that the latter couldn’t help but think that he will be obsolete.
“Harry took this motion as a clear message that he is being officially iced out. And there’s no doubt he and Meghan will have decided that two can play that game. They don’t have a lot of leverage left against the royals, but they do know Charles wishes he had a closer relationship with his American grandchildren,” the source said.
The source also claimed that some people couldn’t help but wonder if Prince Harry and Markle will ever allow King Charles to see their kids again. And not being to talk to them on his birthday served as a wake-up call for the monarch.
“He is determined to rise above the feud with Harry and Meghan and have a meaningful relationship with those kids – even if their parents might not be so forthcoming. The one thing about Charles is that he is willing to compromise, so the thinking is he might let the kids use their titles if it means their parents won’t keep them away from the British family,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s not true that Prince Harry and Markle banned King Charles from talking to Archie and Lilibet on his birthday.
Since this type of conversation can only happen in private, no one knows for sure if it really took place or not. Even though the Sussexes weren’t able to celebrate King Charles’ birthday with him, it’s more than likely that the family to have called the monarch.
