Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not had their Christmas in the United Kingdom in the last few years. This year’s celebration will not likely be any different as they would reportedly remain in the United States during the festive season.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, royal expert Katie Nicholl shared an insight into the British Royal Family’s Christmas celebration this year. It comes as the royals are to mark the season for the first time without Queen Elizabeth II.
The expert, who authored “The New Royals,” told the outlet that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might choose to spend the holiday season in their home in California. She noted that, as per their understanding, “they weren’t coming over to the U.K.”
Nicholl also shared in the exchange that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “have been invited for Christmas.” As reported, King Charles III has extended an invitation to the pair and their two children.
The former working royals have yet to make any confirmation regarding the matter. It remains unclear whether they will stay in the United States or fly to the United Kingdom to celebrate this year’s Christmas.
But, a source, reportedly close to the King, previously spoke to MailOnline about the matter and shared similar claims. As stated, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “are unlikely to attend,” although no reasons were given following the assertion.
Elsewhere in the exchange with ET, Katie Nicholl said she understands King Charles III will follow Queen Elizabeth II’s tradition during Christmas.
The royal expert claimed during the engagement that the British Monarch will “host a family Christmas at Sandringham this year.” She explained that the royals “traditionally come together,” adding that “Christmas is always a really special time” for the family.
The publication noted in the same report, published Wednesday, that Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with their three children, will likely join King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla to celebrate Christmas. It is also said that other members will presumably be present to be with the rest of the family.
Amid the claims about the royals’ celebration for this year’s Christmas, though, Buckingham Palace, as well as the members of the British Royal Family, has yet to make official announcements about the matter.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry last celebrated Christmas with the British Royal Family in 2018.
People recalled in a previous report that in 2019, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent their first Christmas with their son in Canada, adding that they marked the festive season with some “family time” during their official break from official duties as working royals.
In 2020, the former working royals had their Christmas as a family for the first time in their then-new home in the United States. This continued the following year when they remained in the country to celebrate the holiday.
