Princess Diana reportedly gave Prince Harry an important reminder when she was still alive.
While speaking with Closer UK, former royal butler Paul Burrell said that Princess Diana told Prince Harry that he should always support his older brother, Prince William.
At a young age, the royal siblings already had an idea as to what their future would be like in the royal family. Prince William knew that he is the heir, while Prince Harry was aware that he was the spare.
“She’s always incredibly proud that her sons were part of the royal family, and she told them about the privileged life they lead. Diana also made it clear to Harry that he should support his brother,” Burrell said.
However, years after Princess Diana’s death, Prince William and Prince Harry had a falling out. Their differences and issues as adults surfaced, and it’s unclear if their relationship will ever get repaired.
Burrell also claimed that Queen Elizabeth must have been disappointed with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. After all, she died knowing that their issues with the royal family have not been resolved.
“The queen extended a hand of friendship to Meghan. When everything started happening, she didn’t understand. She was disappointed to the end of her life. I just hope Harry can think about that and use it to change the way he does things going forward,” he said.
However, it is important to note that Burrell never had the opportunity to talk to the queen and ask her what her thoughts about Prince Harry and Markle really were. So, readers must remember that these thoughts just came from him alone.
There’s also no indication that Burrell overheard Princess Diana talking to Prince Harry and reminding him that he should always support his older brother.
Royal author Katie Nicholl also shared her two cents on the brothers’ relationship while speaking with Us Weekly.
She said that Prince William might never be able to forgive Prince Harry for leaving The Firm because he always thought he would have his support.
Additionally, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children were forced to be front and center much sooner than they would’ve wanted because Prince Harry and Markle are no longer working for the royal family.
As of late, it’s unclear if the brothers are finally on speaking terms.
