Paul Rudd seemingly had little to say about his new and upcoming film, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” But, he teased that things will be “interesting” when it premieres next year.
The 53-year-old celebrity discussed the matter with Entertainment Tonight during his ninth annual All-Star Bowling Benefit for the Stuttering Association for the Young, on Monday. It came after he is said to have addressed the viral fan theory about how Ant-Man could have defeated Thanos by climbing up from the titan’s behind to kill him in the past Marvel films.
Rudd noted to the publication that “some people considered it a missed opportunity.” But, he stated that fans will “just have to see the next one,” seemingly referring to the third installment of the “Ant-Man” film series.
The Marvel actor argued to ET, though, that he is not sure whether climbing from behind Ant-Man’s new opponent, Kang the Conqueror, would take him out, either. He pointed out, "Kang’s pretty tough, and I gotta assume all parts of him are tough.”
Paul Rudd consequently shared very little insight into the new “Ant-Man” film during the same exchange. He told the outlet that things are going to “be real interesting” when the material comes out.
The latest talks about the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” comes hours after Marvel Studios dropped the official trailer for the upcoming movie. Fans have since learned that the new MCU title will premiere on February 17, 2023.
People, in its report published Monday, said that the first trailer for the film shows Paul Rudd’s return as Scott Lang. It also shared that Peyton Reed served again as the director, similar to the first two titles.
The magazine continued that the trailer reveals the title's new villain, as well, showing Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror as he enters the installment to the film series. It recalled that the character was first introduced to the Universe in the first season of “Loki,” which premiered on Disney+ in 2021.
Aside from the “Wanderlust” star, other cast members from the franchise who are said to be reprising their roles include Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne.
Elsewhere in the exchange with ET, Paul Rudd was asked about his role in “Only Murders in the Building.” However, the outlet said he remained tight-lipped on the matter, stating that he does not know anything about it.
Even so, the “Ant-Man” star noted that he “might show up, here or there” before reiterating that he does not know anything about the third season of the series.
