Denzel Washington has been dubbed a germophobe due to his refusal to come into close contact with his co-stars, as well as the staff and crew of his new film.
In its Oct. 24 issue, Globe claimed that Washington became increasingly paranoid regarding his health following the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though things are starting to go back to normal in the United States, he’s still worried about contracting the disease.
“He’s keeping himself in a total bubble right now, and he’s even suggested the actors all shoot their scenes solo. He says editing can fix it so the audience will never know. He’s very clear that he can’t, under any circumstances, get sick. They simply cannot afford any shutdowns. Denzel has made it clear this shoot will follow every health protocol to the letter and beyond,” the source said.
The source also claimed that Washington has been urging the producers to give the cast members and crew their own pods where they can eat and do their thing. This way, they won’t contaminate each other.
On top of this, Washington also allegedly wants to have daily testing to ensure that no one gets sick. And he also wants everyone to wear masks even if this is no longer required.
“If they aren’t shooting and are on set, he wants them to be masked up, no exceptions. People have heard stories about Denzel for years, including he doesn’t like to do scenes in bed without an undershirt on and that he sometimes won’t kiss his co-stars,” the source said.
The source claimed that this is a good problem to have especially right now.
However, one should still take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. It’s obvious that the tabloid is just exaggerating its claims when it comes to Washington.
It’s not uncommon for actors to be worried about their health and to always keep their co-stars’ health in check. But this isn’t the sole responsibility of Washington.
Everyone on set should look after themselves and this is the best way for them to prevent the spread of the virus.
There’s also no proof that Washington has been making all sorts of requests when it comes to COVID-19 rules and protocols on the set of his upcoming movie.
