Royal expert Charlotte Griffiths appears to have deemed Prince William “slightly insecure,” which she said to have “surprised” her. This reportedly comes after a new book claims that he felt “frustrated” after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received royal roles, which he “quite fancied for himself.”
Express UK said that the book in question is Katie Nicholl’s “The New Royals.” As reported, the new material from the royal author touched on the matter, especially the tensions between the royal siblings over a “lesser role” in the British Monarchy.
The outlet explained that the Duke of Sussex was appointed President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust following its launch in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex later became the Vice President after marriage.
Nicholl’s book reportedly alleges that the appointment of the now-former working royals was a decision in an effort to “include” them as working royals. But, this is said to have ultimately “frustrated” Prince William.
Express UK said Charlotte Griffiths discussed the claim during an episode of “Palace Confidential.” As noted, the Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge feeling “slightly insecure” over the matter “surprised” her.
The expert reportedly shared, as well, that she was “amazed he was worried about missing out on perhaps some of the lesser roles.” This is said to be in consideration that, “ultimately, he will be King and very important and integral to the Royal Family.”
An earlier report from Express UK revealed that the discussion began after host Jo Elvin opened the subject during the engagement on “Palace Confidential,” saying, “There is an interesting insight on the potential jealousy on William’s part over role for Meghan and Harry.”
Charlotte Griffiths, as per the publication, responded to the host’s assertion and noted that the new book “gives a bit of an insight into how much fast-tracking went on to make Meghan and Harry feel special and including before the wedding” and “including making them very senior in the Commonwealth trust.”
The expert was said to have continued, “Katie reports that this was a plum role that William quite fancied for himself.”
In the latter part of the exchange, Griffiths reportedly asserted that she could “imagine the frustration William must have been feeling given that they felt so left out.”
She was said to have explained that “all these special measures were being put in place to make them feel really included and yet they’re so resentful that they weren’t made to feel welcome.”
