Whoopi Goldberg has received criticisms following her “bizarre” behavior on “The View.” Netizens have described her as “rude” and “disrespectful” following Wednesday’s show.
The Sun said it began when the 66-year-old celebrity and the rest of the show’s hosts discussed the apparent cheating scandal involving Adam Levine. While, reportedly, the subject initially “stunned” her, especially after learning about the alleged move of the singer wanting to name his baby after the third party, she got tired of the discussion.
Goldberg is even said to have asked her fellow hosts why they needed to participate in it, noting that it was what she wanted to know.
As the discussion progressed, the “Sister Act” star consequently pretended to fall asleep. Aside from closing her eyes, she also put her down.
The outlet added that the camera even zoomed in on Whoopi Goldberg at one point. As explained, it came when she was “slumped over,” pretending to almost fall out of her seat due to boredom.
When the television personality “woke up” later on, she took “The View” to a commercial break.
While the stunt is claimed to have caused studio audiences to laugh, the case is different among netizens. As reported, many individuals did not find her act funny, with some calling it “disrespectful.”
The Sun shared some of the criticisms posted on Twitter following Wednesday’s episode of the show. Most of the tweets appeared to have used the hashtag, “The View.”
The outlet quoted one critic, writing, “[Whoopi Goldberg] ‘sleeping’ during the Adam Levine segment… so rude [and] disrespectful, taking the audience’s attention away [from] the women who are doing their job talking about the topic.”
Another netizen reportedly tweeted, “If Whoopi does not want to talk about something, don’t talk then, don’t just derail the segment.”
A different Twitter user is reported to have shared similar thoughts, saying, “...She brings nothing to the show [and] her pretending to sleep while the other hosts speak, is disrespectful and rude.”
Although some fans and followers of “The View” did not like what Whoopi Goldberg did, others are said to have supported her stunt.
The outlet quoted one fan, saying, “We’re all Whoopi on the Adam Levine ‘hot’ topic.”
Another supporter later reportedly added, “I’m with Whoopi on this. Next story.”
Earlier this week, model Sumner Stroh claimed that she and Adam Levine had a year-long affair. She has gone viral after making the accusations via video on TikTok.
The Maroon 5 singer has since denied having an affair outside his marriage to Behati Prinsloo. He noted, though, that he “crossed the line during a regrettable period” of his life.
