Meghan Markle is one of the honorees of Variety’s upcoming “Power of Women” issue and event. However, her appearance on the cover has been delayed in wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
Variety made the announcement and named its chosen honorees on Wednesday.
Apart from noting the postponement of the Duchess of Sussex’s cover, it also confirmed her absence from its upcoming event, which will be on September 28.
People, in its recent piece covering the matter, quoted parts of the official announcement, which reads, “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was chosen as one of this year’s stellar honorees. The Duchess’s cover will be postponed to a later date, out of respect for the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II.”
It continues, “Similarly, she will not attend the Power of Women event in Los Angeles later this month.”
Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter reported, as well, that Meghan Markle would halt the new episode releases of her podcast, “Archetypes,” following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
The outlet noted that an official announcement appears in the material’s description on Spotify.
It reads, “New episodes of ‘Archetypes’ will be paused during the official mourning period for Her Majesty The Queen.”
The Duchess of Sussex has already had three episodes since the material debuted on August 23. The guests she interviewed for the three titles are Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Mindy Kaling.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently in the United Kingdom. They flew to Europe earlier this month to visit charities “close to their hearts.”
After attending the Invictus Games event in Germany, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were set to attend the WellChild Awards in London on September 8.
However, they missed the event as the royal-born Prince joined other members of the British Royal Family to be with Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
Later that day, Buckingham Palace announced the passing of the British Monarch.
It is unclear when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will return to the United States. No official word has been heard from their camp yet.
They were last seen, though, alongside members of the British Royal Family at Westminster Hall. They attended a 20-minute service to honor the late monarch on Wednesday.
Prior to the service, the Duke of Sussex and the new Prince of Wales walked together behind the Queen’s casket in a procession through London.
As for the Duchess of Sussex, she made her way in a car with Sophie, Countess of Wessex, while the new Princess of Wales rode with Queen Camilla, according to People.
