Queen Elizabeth currently lies in state at Westminster Abbey after a long journey through different parts of Britain since she passed away on Sept. 8.
According to reports, the queen’s body will remain at Westminster Abbey until Monday when her funeral takes place. This way, royal fans can flock to where she is and pay their final respects to Her Majesty.
Before the queen’s coffin was taken to Westminster Abbey, several members of the royal family walked behind the queen’s remains on their way to the venue.
King Charles III and Princess Anne walked right behind their late mom’s coffin and they were followed by Prince William, Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, and Prince Edward.
When the queen’s coffin arrived at Westminster Abbey, the other members of the royal family were there waiting for her. Queen Consort Camilla and Kate Middleton rode in the same car together, while Meghan Markle and Sophie, Countess of Wessex were also photographed in the same car.
Royal fan Sharon Stapleton told CBS News that the queen’s passing brought not just the royal family together but even those people who love and support the British clan.
“I met lots of interesting different people you wouldn't meet normally — all brought together and united in their grief for the queen, and excited about being able to go through and see her lying in state. It's been a long night. It's been raining, very wet, a bit cold. But it’s worth every minute of it,” she said.
Prior to her death, the queen already suffered from decreased mobility. But she still made it a point to meet British Prime Minister Liz Truss in person.
The queen’s last photograph was taken just two days before her passing. The snap shows a frail-looking monarch with her back hunched and her hand bruised. However, it was also evident how much she loved her job until her final moments because she was smiling from ear to ear in the photo.
Her Majesty also stayed in Balmoral prior to her death. She spent time there with her family this past summer.
According to reports, every weekend, the queen had meals with her esteemed guests. And when she was by herself, she did some light paperwork until her passing.
The queen’s body will be laid to rest beside her parents, sister, and husband at Windsor Castle.
