Pauley Perrette said she remains “grateful” and faithful despite all life’s challenges.
On Friday, the “NCIS” alum took her thoughts to Twitter and opened up about her experiences in the last few years. She included a video of herself in the post, marking the first anniversary of her health scare.
In the caption, Perrette revealed she suffered a “massive stroke” on September 2, 2021. She also noted that she “lost so many beloved family and friends,” including her father and cousin.
Despite this, the actress said she is “still a survivor after this traumatic life” she has been given so far. She also emphasized that she remains “so grateful” and “still so full of faith,” adding that she is “still here.”
In the video wherein she directly addressed her followers, Pauley Perrette looked back on the times she seemed to have “cheated death.” She talked about her serious allergic reaction to hair dye, which, according to Entertainment Tonight, she had in 2014 after repeatedly dying her hair for her “NCIS” role.
The 53-year-old actress also recalled her history of rape and domestic violence. Moreover, she thought of the 2015 incident wherein she was attacked by a homeless man.
ET, in its piece covering Perrette’s latest social media update, quoted her, saying, “Yes, I’m still here again, like how many times do I cheat death? Beside my hair dye allergy, food allergies, [I’m a] domestic violence and rape survivor, and I was assaulted by a crazy homeless person and almost died… but I’m still here.”
In the latter part of the clip, Pauley Perrette reiterated that she is “really grateful,” adding that she feels “good” even after “going through a lot in the last three years.” She later thanked everyone, especially “those of you who are my friends.”
The actress’s post on Twitter has since received more than 9,000 likes. Several netizens also took the time to comment on the post, with it amassing more than 1,300 comments.
Many individuals seemingly expressed their surprise after learning that the celebrity had a stroke last year. Some commenters, meanwhile, shared their own life experiences, including health scares and losses.
As for others, they let the actress know how much they “love” and “support” her. Also, a few netizens noted that they love her character in “NCIS.”
Pauley Perrette played the role of forensic scientist Abby Sciuto in “NCIS” for 15 seasons. She left the fan-favorite character and exited the series in May 2018.
