Olivia Wilde and some of the cast members of “Don’t Worry Darling” faced the press for the first time in Venice. Ahead of the film’s premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, the director addressed a couple of things, including Florence Pugh’s absence from the press conference.
The 38-year-old actress said that the “Midsommar” star is a “force,” according to Deadline. She consequently stated that they are “so grateful [Pugh] is able to make it tonight [for the premiere] despite being in production.”
While Olivia Wilde may have shared a few words about her lead star, the publication noted that conversations and “difficult questions” about the recent rumors and speculations were dismissed. Some of these involve Shia LaBeouf, his withdrawal from the project, and the alleged feud with Florence Pugh.
The outlet quoted the “In Time” actress, saying, “As for all the endless tabloid gossip and noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel I need to contribute to it. It’s sufficiently well-nourished.”
In the same engagement, Harry Styles touched on the subject of social media. As reported, he acknowledged the dark side and the good aspects of it.
The “Dunkirk” actor, who stars opposite Pugh in “Don’t Worry Darling,” said that social media has “a lot of negative sides,” adding that “they are pretty obvious for anyone to see.” He argued, however, that there are still “positive things happening in the world because of it.”
Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, who have been dating since earlier this year, arrived at the festival’s photocall for “Don’t Worry Darling” separately earlier on Monday. MailOnline released some photos from the event, with the film director opting for a “daring” style.
The publication stated that the “Lazarus Effect” star went shirtless under a bright green suit, flashing only a black bra underneath the coordinating set. As for her boyfriend, the One Direction member is said to have donned a pinstripe cream blazer and paired it with loose-fitting black slacks.
For the photocall, ahead of the press conference, Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde were joined by other cast members of “Don’t Worry Darling,” including Gemma Chan and Chris Pine.
Meanwhile, Florence Pugh is expected to arrive in Venice ahead of the premiere at the film festival. Reports of the actress’s absence from the press conference first surfaced on Sunday, with Variety obtaining confirmations from the event’s representatives.
People later released a similar report, noting that a source close to the “Dune: Part Two” production said Pugh would fly from the set. A separate insider reportedly added that this had always been the plan, even before the matter came to light across media platforms.
