Ricky Martin allegedly cut ties with his entire family because the singer was worried that he would get dragged into more scandals involving them.

According to National Enquirer, Martin was shocked when his nephew accused him of abuse and incest. The 21-year-old later withdrew his allegations against the singer, but the complaints will forever be etched in Martin’s name.

Following the incident, Martin decided to stop talking to all his family members because he’s worried that his nephew’s fake complaint would encourage others to do the same.

“Everyone talks about what happens to someone when they become famous. No one talks about what happens to a famous person’s family when suddenly one person is a multimillionaire with great power. Ricky was always very generous with his family. He was the cash cow and made sure everyone benefited from his success,” the source said.

However, the recent allegations of his sister’s son encouraged him to finally put walls between himself and his entire family.

“It’s awful, but now Ricky can’t trust anyone anymore, not even family,” the source said.

Martin previously denied his nephew’s shocking allegations. But before the complaints were dropped, Martin, through his lawyer, said that he was ready to defend himself in court.

He also stressed that he was never intimate with his nephew, and he didn’t also stalk him just as his nephew claimed.

“The person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Martin’s lawyer said last month (via NBC News).

Now, Martin seems to be enjoying his time away from his family. But this setup may only be temporary. After all, his nephew can still file charges against him for the sake of destroying the singer’s life even though his claims are unfounded.

And if this happens again, Martin would be forced to defend himself in court and give his accounts to ensure that his nephew will be proven to be lying.

For now, it’s unclear if Martin cut ties with his entire family. But it’s highly likely for the singer has not spoken to his nephew in recent months.
