When Tesla CEO Elon Musk and musician Grimes first revealed the name of their child, people thought it was unpronounceable. The couple has now changed the name of their baby, but it remains as unpronounceable as ever.

CNN reports that Musk and Grimes have decided to rename their child X Æ A-Xii Musk. Earlier this month, the musician and the CEO revealed that the name of the child would be X Æ A-12 Musk.

Aside from confusing people and leaving them wondering how to pronounce the name, people also wondered if the name would be accepted by the State of California, where the couple lives. According to the state’s constitution, the only acceptable names are the ones available in the English alphabet.

Grimes revealed the name change to everyone on her Instagram account after someone asked in the comments section if she and Musk had changed the name of their baby as required by Californian law. Grimes did not provide an explanation for the name change, other than saying that Roman numerals look better.

As to how to pronounce their child’s name, The Guardian notes that even the couple does not seem to agree on the proper pronunciation. Grimes explained on her Instagram account that the X is pronounced as X while the Æ is pronounced as the letters A and I.

Musk, on the other hand, said the Æ is pronounced as Ash while the A-12 is pronounced as is.

Grimes and Musk are just the latest celebrity parents to get the spotlight during the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. Just recently, Jude Law was revealed to be expecting his sixth child after his wife Philipa Coan was photographed with a pretty visible baby bump.

Another couple that had a baby during this pandemic is Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome. Groome’s pregnancy was discovered in the same way as Coan’s was, as she was photographed with a baby bump while shopping for supplies during London’s coronavirus-induced lockdown.

However his name is pronounced, X Æ A-Xii will be growing up in a world dealing with an ongoing pandemic. Around the world, there are now 5,304,772 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with fatalities amounting to 342,029 people. The information comes from the May 25 situation report from the World Health Organization.

As for the United States, the May 25 update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention pegs the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country at 1,637,456 people. There are now 97,669 people that have died from COVID-19 in the United States.
