Joe Biden, who has strongly criticized President Trump for allegedly mishandling coronavirus outbreak in the initial stage, recently came up with an ad that shows the POTUS playing golf at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia next to the number of coronavirus related death toll numbers. Despite nearly 100,000 American people succumbing to the deadly virus, and millions losing their jobs, the president spent his day playing golf.
To respond to the ad, Trump took to his Twitter handle. The president accused Biden's team of not wanting him to leave the White House. Moreover, he pointed out that Biden's team did not mention in its ad that it is the first time he has played golf in almost three months, adding that his presidential rival, on the other hand, continues to go on vacations, relax and make shady deals with other countries.
Aside from that, Trump took this opportunity to criticize his predecessor, Barack Obama, who he said was always playing golf, traveling regularly in United Flight 747 to play in Hawai, and didn't even cancel his plans even when a great young man was killed by ISIS. While Trump refrained from naming names, he was referring to journalist James Foley's death, which triggered nationwide criticism for President Obama in 2014.
According to The New York Times report, after talking to Foley's parents following the journalist's death, Obama went straight to a golf course located in Martha’s Vineyard as soon as the cameras went off. The paper claimed that he spent the rest of the afternoon golfing despite facing strong criticism over what many considered as an insensitive indifference to the murder he had just condemned a while ago.
The anti-Trump group sees Biden adopting similar methods Trump used to run down the reputation of his rivals. A report from Mediate says Trump left no opportunity to criticize Obama for golfing during his presidency. Back in 2014, Trump slammed President Obama for playing golf ahead of an important N.Y.C. Ebola outbreak meeting that will be attended by people around the world.
The Twitter battle can be a brief glimpse of what is still to come before this year's elections. Trump recently adopted an offensive approach for the unmasking related to the Gen. Michael Flynn case. In an interview with Fox News last week, the president touted the Russia probe as one of American history's biggest political crimes.
ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos asked Biden about the previous administration's investigation into the Gen. Michael Flynn case and about a mystery meeting that took place at the Oval Office on Jan. 5, 2017. He said that he was aware that the investigation was there and that they demanded an investigation, adding that he doesn't know more about it.
