It was great to see Selena Gomez taking part in the Safe Hands Challenge to educate masses on coronavirus by sharing a clip on Instagram.
While there are abundant instructions already doing rounds to maintain proper hygiene to battle against the coronavirus, it is always good to see celebrities joining the bandwagon. On Saturday, Gomez participated in the “Safe Hands” challenge that has gone viral.
The virus has affected over 170 nations in the world. The threat of this pandemic virus can be understood from the fact that it has led to more than 14,700 deaths in different parts of the globe.
Arianna Huffington, Thrive Global CEO and co-founder of Huffington Post nominated her to accept the challenge, Elle mentions. The aim of this challenge is to spread awareness about washing hands in the right manner to minimize the risk of coronavirus infection.
Gomez accepted the challenge and also posted a clip on Instagram. India Today reports how the video showed the singer washing her hands, as well as, explaining the viewer the proper way to go about it.
Gomez began her video by saying that she is washing hands for a period of 40 seconds. “Who would've thought, because I clearly wasn't washing my hands the right way," the singer said.
The clip also showed how Gomez makes sure to rub her fingers and palms with great patience while also ensuring that the nails are cleaned properly. She added that proper cleaning is crucial for any person who has long nails like her.
Gomez laughs and apologizes in the video when the soap creates that familiar sound while she rubbed her hands. "We can make it fun," she added while lathering up her hands well.
After all, the hand-washing exercise can become a boring task after a few seconds and Gomez understands it pretty well. She is also seen searching around for her dog to give her company.
The 27-year-old singer felt that all people requiring company as they practice good hygiene. Gomez sported a casual look in this clip and wears a bright red lipstick.
“Hope everyone is staying safe inside,” Gomez captioned. “I had to redo this video so many times," she added.
Also, Gomez nominated rapper Cardi B, actor Olivia Wilde, and Gigi Hadid to participate in this challenge. The video has gone viral and has had more than 5 million views as of this writing.
