Brad Pitt once again joked about him being single. This time around, however, he included Britain in his joke and also mentioned Prince Harry which garnered laughter from Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Pitt won the Best Supporting Actor at the British Academy Film and Television Arts Awards for his role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Unfortunately, the actor couldn't attend the award show to pick his award himself due to some "family obligation."
Pitt's co-star Margot Robbie accepted the award on his behalf and read his speech on stage. At first, the actor sent his apology for missing the event. Then he welcomed Britain in the singlehood club. Brad was referring to the U.K's exit from the European Union.
Towards the end of his speech, Pitt mentioned Prince Harry. It was in reference to the royal's decision to step back from his royal duties and live in Canada with his wife Meghan Markle and their son, Archie.
"He says that he is going to name this Harry," Robbie said while holding Pitt's trophy. "Because he is really excited about bringing it back to the states with him... His words, not mine!" the actress said in conclusion of the actor's speech. Watch the complete speech below.
Brad's jokes got a laugh from the BAFTA audience including Prince William and Kate Middleton. The camera panned on Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the royal couple were seen laughing at Brad's speech.
Throughout this awards season, the Ad Astra actor continues to take home accolades and also injected jokes in his speech. It could be about his dating life or him being single again.
At the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, Pitt made a hilarious remark about his dating life. The 56-year-old actor said he wanted to bring his mother to the event but he couldn't because the public would assume that he is dating any woman who stands next to him.
At the 2020 Screen Actor Guild Awards, he also made the audience chuckles when he cracked a joke that he wanted to add his win to his Tinder profile. Pitt later on clarified when he attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival that he was only joking when he said he is on Tinder. The actor said he just thought that it was funny to mention it on stage but in reality, he doesn't know how the dating app works.
Pitt is expected to attend the upcoming 2020 Oscars on February 10. He is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
