Kelly Clarkson is allegedly worried about what her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock would say about her.
In its June 6 issue, Globe claimed that Clarkson decided to quit The Voice because she was worried that Blackstock would think that she’s a gold-digger.
After all, the singer’s talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show was just moved to Ellen DeGeneres’ timeslot. And this means that Clarkson would receive a generous bonus.
But hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show and judging on The Voice at the same time means that the singer would earn so much more than what she’s used to getting. And this is the last thing that Clarkson wants her ex-husband to think. So, she decided to quit The Voice.
“It cut Kelly to the bone leaving The Voice, but she says there is no way she was going to give Brandon more ammo to use against her in court. She felt like she needed to make a drastic decision to show where her priorities really are,” the source said.
But in her official statement, Clarkson said that she decided to quit The Voice because she wants to spend more time with her two children.
Meanwhile, the source claimed that Blackstock is still trying to get money from his ex-wife. The singer allegedly gave her ex-husband $1.3 million in payout on top of the $115,000 monthly payments that she continues to give him.
However, Blackstock insists that this isn’t enough because Clarkson is raking in millions. After all, Blackstock doesn’t allegedly have a job and he’s also required to move out of the ranch that Clarkson bought for their family on June 1.
“He is still hoping he can mount a court case to compel Kelly to buy him a new place where he can live and entertain the kids. Kelly admits she’s wearing too many hats to be the mother she wants to be. But giving up the show that made her a bigger star than ever sends the clear message she’s serious about it,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt.
There’s no proof that Clarkson is worried about what Blackstock would think about her. And it’s not also true that Blackstock thinks that his singer ex-wife is a gold digger. After all, Clarkson has been juggling multiple jobs to support her children on her own.
