A royal expert believes that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry face a “particular conundrum” today. This comes as the former actress’s father was hospitalized earlier this week.
Express UK reported that Richard Kay made the assertions about the former working royals. In his piece for the Daily Mail, he shared that no one knows how the pair will respond to the “plight” of Thomas Markle.
The expert continued that it is also unclear whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will “put aside the bitterness of the past four years.” It remains unknown, as well, whether they will visit the latter’s father “to be at his bedside.”
Kay consequently asserted that this is a “conundrum” for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. He explained that this comes as they are a couple who “make a virtue of their compassion” in their current public roles.
Despite acknowledging that the situation is challenging and difficult for the former working royals, the royal expert warned that the pair, especially the royal-born Prince, “may come to regret it” if they do not “let bygones be bygones.”
He, then, rhetorically asked whether it is already “too late” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to “put the past behind” and “reach out to poorly” Thomas Markle.
In the same piece, Geo News stated that Richard Kay called out Prince Harry for his alleged “lack of empathy” and “continued silence” over his father-in-law’s recent plight. He even wrote, “perhaps the most baffling failure of all was [the royal-born Prince]’s.”
The royal expert continued that it remains “hard to understand” why the Duke of Sussex did not meet the Duchess of Sussex’s father in person. He noted that “any prospective son-in-law would do” it.
Kay also speculated that there likely have been “countless opportunities” for the former working royals to pay Thomas Markle a private visit.
But, while he acknowledged that the former actress’s father’s claims over the years “hardly helped” the situation, he claimed that the youngest Wales prince’s behavior remains inexcusable.
The latest reports about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry come as Thomas Markle continues his recovery in a hospital, which reports believe to be four hours away from the pair’s Montecito home. He was admitted later on Monday after reportedly suffering a stroke, according to Express UK.
The matter first came to light when TMZ broke the news earlier this week. As reported, the Duchess of Sussex’s father was loaded into an ambulance in Tijuana, Mexico, adding that he was unable to speak and was forced to write his symptoms on a piece of paper.
Samantha Markle, later on, confirmed that her father has remained in the hospital and is recovering. She, alongside the rest of the family, asked for privacy, as well, “for his health and well-being.”
