Donald Trump took to his official Twitter handle, late night on Apr. 21, to share his thoughts about China's interest in presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's victory in November.
According to Trump, Beijing wants Biden to win so that it can continue to rip-off America, as they have done in the past. Accusing China of being on a big disinformation campaign, Trump said they are desperately hoping for Biden's victory in the presidential race as that would enable them to continue ripping the United States off as they have been doing for decades. It all stopped when he became the president, Trump wrote without offering any sort of evidence.
In his earlier posts, Trump slammed China for its disinformation and propaganda attack on the US and Europe, calling it a "disgrace." Claiming that it all came from the top, the president said they could have easily restricted the spread of coronavirus but they decided not to do it.
Trump and Biden have locked horns on several occasions over the current administration's response to the pandemic, as well as America-China policy in recent weeks. Keeping in line with that, the former vice president released an ad that accused Trump of being too weak on China while thousands of American people succumbed to the plague.
Some Republicans suggest Beijing's response should lead to consequences for China's officials for not divulging crucial details about the virus. The Trump campaign too released ads that centers on Biden's son Hunter taking advantage of his father's influence to rack up a business deal in the country.
While Trump's comments are usually election-centric, British political and international relations analyst Tom Fowdy considered the possibility of the claim been true in his latest report. It is no secret that Trump is extremely aggressive to China, but does that mean the country would prefer Biden to win the upcoming elections and would go as far as interfering to ensure that it comes to fruition?
While China is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to defend its national interests and continues to respond to the White House, and the media's unceasing criticism, Trump seems bent on changing the nation's politics. Standing for itself, Beijing has tried making the facts clear, however, these efforts appear to be aggression or influence, although Fowdy says it is a mere reaction to accusations which have primarily originated from America.
Fowdy compares America's approach with starting a fight and then accusing your opponent of being at fault for hitting back. Fowdy says the White House has spread misleading shreds of information against Beijing such as Pompeo's conspiracy theory that suggested coronavirus came from Wuhan as a result of a laboratory accident.
