Meryl Streep has a very busy schedule, but during her downtime, the actress makes sure to watch one of her favorite reality TV shows.
In its May 16 issue, National Enquirer claimed that Streep is obsessed with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In fact, she made a surprising revelation during a recent interview.
“When you think of one of the most famous actresses of all time, you expect that in her spare time she’d enjoy watching sophisticated programming where she could study the acting of her peers. But when Meryl kicks back during her time off, she tunes in to reality TV – specifically RHOBH,” the source said.
During a recent interview with Netflix, Streep shared what she has been doing during her free time. She said that she has been reading books about the climate and watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
“Meryl says the fun thing about the housewives is that they’re not struggling to play a scripted character. They’re caricatures in themselves. Meryl insists you couldn’t make up these personalities and their problems. She tries to never miss it, and if she has something else to do, she has her assistants record it so she’ll never miss an episode,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt.
Even though it’s true that Streep enjoys watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, there’s no proof that the veteran actress is obsessed with the show.
And there’s also no proof that Streep has been asking her assistants to record the episodes that she missed.
By the looks of it, the tabloid is just exaggerating Streep’s recent revelation. But this doesn’t mean that their claims are true.
Meanwhile, Streep also made headlines this week amid rumors that she could appear in Mamma Mia 3. Streep’s co-star, Colin Firth recently told Good Morning America that it could happen.
“If you manage to make a second one, I guess you can make a third, a fourth, and a fifth. It was already a miracle. And if people want it, I would do it just to see my friends again on some beautiful island,” he said (via Indie Wire).
However, Firth’s statement doesn’t necessarily confirm anything. It just goes to show that he is open to reprising his role and returning to the franchise that was headlined by Streep.
