Will Smith still has not reached out to Chris Rock to personally apologize for slapping him at the Oscars last March. This has reportedly caused many insiders in Hollywood to roll their eyes at the actor.
This comes after news of his supposed “spiritual tour” of India made headlines earlier this week. Sources revealed the said trip to People and deemed it “a journey inward,” according to Page Six.
As stated, insiders see the “King Richard” star’s “spiritual” trip as “cynical and ridiculous.” One even reportedly argued that this is because he has yet to apologize to the “Grown Ups” actor, “the one person he assaulted in front of millions” of people.
Speaking to People, “ardent” informants stated that Will Smith’s trip will, also, include practicing “yoga and meditation.” He was seen for the first time since the infamous incident at the Oscars upon arrival at a private airport in Mumbai, India, on Saturday.
Paparazzi was said to have awaited his arrival and met the 53-year-old actor at the location. As added, he smiles for photos, as well, with a fan.
Smith, alongside the rest of his family, has yet to make any formal confirmation regarding the trip to India.
The day prior to the flight, Chris Rock’s mother, Rosalie “Rose” Rock, called out Will Smith for slapping her son at the Oscars awarding ceremony. She told WIS of Columbia that the slap did not only hurt the comedian, noting that he “slapped all of us,” especially her, according to NBC News.
She, also, shared that she reached out to her son after the Oscars, which took place on March 27. She noted, as well, how she told her son that she was proud of how [Chris Rock] handled the incident.
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s mother asserted that Smith reacted to his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who gave him the “side-eye,” adding that he “made [his wife]’s day because she was mulled over laughing when it happened.”
Will Smith did not apologize to Chris Rock during his acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor gong at the Oscars. The award came a couple of minutes after the slap incident occurred.
The “Aladdin” star did issue an apology, though, on Instagram the following day. Aside from publicly apologizing to the comedian, he acknowledged that his behavior was “unacceptable and inexcusable.”
Smith, also, pointed out that he was “wrong” and “out of line.” Moreover, he said he is “embarrassed,” adding that his “actions were not indicative of the man” he wants to become.
