Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are allegedly a “no-show” in their new neighborhood, Montecito, Santa Barbara, in the United States. The pair’s public sightings “have so far been rare,” according to a British journalist.
Express UK reported that the assertions came from Richard Mineards, who pens a gossip column for the Montecito Journal. Speaking to The Times, he claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “have not become part of the community.”
The journalist, also, noted that a lot of people within the neighborhood are “bristling” about it. He added that “it is such a lovely place to go, and [the Sussexes] have been a no-show.”
Mineards continued that there is a “big question” of where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are. He, then, shared that locals had kept their fingers crossed that they would see the royal-born Prince at a concert in Santa Barbara.
There were reportedly “high hopes” the former working royals, especially the Duke of Sussex, would appear. But, considering that the event took place last Tuesday, it “was not to be” due to the Invictus Games, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are as of the moment.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to the United States in 2020. They relocated to the former’s home country after stepping down from their posts as working royals in the British Monarchy.
The Sussexes have since remained in their new mansion, alongside their two children. They have not flown abroad, particularly in Europe, until recently for the Invictus Games, which is being held in The Hague, in the Netherlands.
Mineards’ assertions come after the Duke of Sussex told reporters last week that he and the Duchess of Sussex “have been welcomed with open arms” in their new home. He, also, deemed the Santa Barbara community “great,” adding it is now “home” to him.
Geo News released a similar report on the matter, claiming that neighbors of the former working royals allegedly disagreed with them following the royal-born Prince’s comments. It, also, referenced the British journalist’s statements about the subject.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to make any comment.
The Duke of Sussex’s statements emerged after sharing the details of his and the Duchess of Sussex’s surprise visit to Queen Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom. Us Weekly reported that a spokesperson for the former working royals confirmed they stopped by Windsor Castle to spend time with the British Monarch.
The royal-born prince revealed to reporters at the Invictus Games that the Queen “had plenty of messages for Team U.K.,” adding that he had already passed them on to most of the participants. He, also, described the meeting as “great,” noting that “it was great to see [his grandmother.]”
