Prince Andrew and Prince Charles’ relationship is still, allegedly, strained.
In its April 18 issue, Globe claimed that Prince Charles and Prince William tried to convince Queen Elizabeth to ban Prince Andrew from attending Prince Philip’s memorial service. However, the monarch didn’t listen.
What’s worse, the queen also requested for Prince Andrew to escort her on their way to Westminster Abbey and even after the memorial service.
A source claimed that the only person who was happy with the queen’s decision was the Duke of York. And he saw his attendance at the memorial service as the perfect revenge against Prince Charles.
“I’m told Charles and William wanted Andrew to stay away from like troublemakers Prince Harry and Meghan. They tried to convince Her Majesty Andrew’s presence would taint Philip’s memory and shine the spotlight on the scandals that got her favorite son exiled from royal life. But she refused to listen and decreed not only would Andrew attend his father’s memorial, but he would also be right at her side. The decision threw the royals into chaos,” the source said.
The insider claimed that the only person who was thrilled with the queen’s decision was her favorite son.
“He clearly saw it as an opportunity for revenge on his brother and nephew who he believes ruthlessly kicked him out of public life,” the source said.
While at the memorial service, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward allegedly made sure to ignore the Duke of York.
“Her Majesty may insist Andrew has a place at family occasions, but there is clearly no love lost among the siblings and no way back for royal black sheep. This will be the last formal public appearance of his life,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt.
Prince Philip’s memorial service wouldn’t be the last time that royal fans would see Prince Andrew. There are ongoing predictions that he would also attend the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.
In fact, it is also entirely possible for the Duke of York to join the royal family on the balcony during the queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
But according to Express, Prince Andrew doesn’t want to attend the monarch’s Platinum Jubilee, but he might be forced to do so.
“Prince Andrew does want to participate in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and to be present at the St Paul’s Cathedral service of thanksgiving and to pay tribute to the Queen’s magnificent 70 years of public service. The Prince and Queen do have a close bond. The Queen knows exactly what she is doing. She’s very much in charge,” the source said.
