Chris Rock remains tight-lipped about the infamous “slap incident” at the Oscars 2022. But, he may probably finally talk about the matter when he gets paid for it.
Us Weekly said that the comedian was the one who made the assertion in one of his recent shows as part of his comedy tour. As noted, it took place at his Fantasy Springs event in Palm Springs, California, on Saturday.
Rock told his audience that he is “OK” before adding that he has a whole show. But, he pointed out that he would not talk about the incident “until I get paid” for it.
The “Grown Ups” star, later on, shared that “life is good,” and he got his “hearing back.” He did, however, skewer some high-profile personalities in his set, including the Kardashians, Meghan Markle, and Hilary Clinton.
The same publication acknowledged that the report first emerged in the Desert Sun newspaper over the weekend.
The report comes more than two weeks after Will Smith shocked the world after smacking Chris Rock across the face on stage during the Oscars awarding ceremony. It took place after the comedian made a quip about Jada Pinkett Smith being bald, seemingly implying she would star in the next “G.I. Jane” film.
Reports explained that the “Gotham” actress rolled her eyes upon hearing the joke because her baldness is the result of her alopecia. But, there have been allegations that Rock was not aware of her condition prior to making the “G.I. Jane” quip on stage.
Will Smith has since apologized to Chris Rock. Although his first apology, wherein he excluded the comedian, came during the Oscars night when he made his acceptance speech for his Best Actor gong.
On Instagram, the “King Richard” actor penned a note and owned up to his actions, which he described as “unacceptable and inexcusable,” according to BBC. He, also, stated that he was “wrong” and “out of line” for slapping and yelling at the “Saturday Night Live” alum.
Smith pointed out, as well, that “violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.” He explained, however, that the “joke about Jada [Pinkett Smith]’s medical condition was too much for [him] to bear,” causing him to react emotionally.
Aside from apologizing to Chris Rock, the “Focus” star publicly apologized, as well, to the producers of the show, the Academy, the attendees of the event, and all the watchers across the globe.
