Kate Middleton showed respect to Camilla Parker Bowles by doing a huge “act of inconvenience.” She bent her knees to lower herself in front of the next Queen Consort, allowing them to plant their cheek kisses toward one another.
Body language expert Judi James stated that this showed “closeness and affection” between the two Duchesses, according to Express UK. This took place during the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on Monday.
The expert explained that the Duchess of Cambridge was “keen” to show her respect for the person who will be Queen Consort ahead of her. She even had an “add-on gesture” of touching the Duchess of Cornwall’s arm, suggesting their close ties.
Judi James shared her assertions to The Mirror following the annual event. Apart from the analysis that she made from Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles’ body language on that day, she, also, talked about the “residual tension” among the British Royals.
As reiterated by Geo News, she said that there was “visible tension in the air” before the heartfelt greetings between the Cambridges and the Cornwalls. As noted, the ceremony marked the first without Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they last attended in 2020.
James pointed out that the “most telling moment” was when the four royals, Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Camilla Parker Bowle, stood together “waiting to walk down the aisle.” She asserted that the two royal-born Princes showed “signals of residue tension” as the eldest Wales prince wiped his hands and patted his clothing, suggesting “inner anxiety.”
As for the Prince of Wales, he stuffed his hands into his pocket. He looked a “little frail and unsteady on his feet.”
But, the body language expert noted that these signals of tension concluded when they started greeting each other. “It was kisses all around and an air of relaxation that they all seemed to be enjoying.”
Meanwhile, royal watchers and fans may have failed to notice the reported “tension,” but they have praised the four British Royals, especially Camilla Parker Bowles and Kate Middleton’s husband, Prince William. A separate report from Express UK shared that the two senior working royals “warmed hearts” as they shared an embrace.
An insider, then, told the publication that there were “family rows” in the early years of the Duchess of Cornwall’s marriage to Prince Charles. The Duke of Cambridge did not reportedly have the “best relationship” with his father, although he had seen how his stepmother made him happy.
The same source noted that the Duchess of Cambridge’s husband has already come to terms with it. Their relationship as father and son is “better than it ever has been,” adding that they are “quite the blended family now.”
