Kate Middleton asked Prince William for a marriage pact years before they got engaged.

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, the couple’s marriage pact symbolized the promise that they made to each other. Prince William vowed to marry Middleton no matter how long it takes and how far apart they might be.

In 2007, Nicholl revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge created their marriage pact during their trip to Seychelles. The royal author said that Middleton wanted something more from Prince William and he happily obliged.

Even though their engagement didn’t happen until 2010, as far as the royal couple was concerned, they were as good as engaged.

Three years later, Prince William got down on one knee and he proposed to Middleton during their trip to Kenya. And less than a year later, the couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Middleton made headlines this week after they were praised for stepping up during the coronavirus pandemic.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Nicholl praised the royal couple for letting their guard down as a result of what the entire world is going through. She also praised Prince William and Middleton for supplying a dose of entertainment by sharing photos and videos of their three kids.

Nicholl said that the gesture has been uplifting for Britain, particularly the royal fans. After all, it has given them an insight as to what they can expect when Prince William and Middleton become their king and queen consort.

The royal author also credited Queen Elizabeth for adapting to the changing times, as well as for using technology to continue her work while she’s on lockdown.

Even though Prince William and Middleton are also quarantining in Anmer Hall, they are still doing their royal duties via video calls. This week, the Duchess of Cambridge recorded a message broadcast encouraging people who are struggling with their mental health to speak out. Prince William also gave the public the same advice.

Meanwhile, royal expert Roya Nikkah also praised the Cambridges for making sure that they are still visible during the pandemic. During her interview on BBC One “Breakfast,” Nikkah praised the couple for doing a lot behind the scenes.

“I think they feel it's important to keep supporting key workers, getting the message across about mental health, opening hospitals. The bread and butter of what a lot of the public want to see from the royal family,” she said.
